Melia
Melia is the Founder and Chief Counsel of The Modern Creator’s Law Firm, a practice dedicated to providing expert support to small businesses, content creators, social media influencers, and other innovators. With over 20 years of experience as senior in-house counsel for large global corporations, Melia knows how to help creators and innovators bring their ideas to life while managing risks.
As a seasoned business lawyer and former prosecutor, Melia is well-equipped to advise, protect, and defend her clients’ interests. She specializes in business organization and management, brand protection and defense, and social media law, including data privacy and cybersecurity.
Melia’s goal is to help creators grow in confidence, knowing they have established their businesses and brands on a solid legal foundation. This allows them to focus on what matters most: creating and running their businesses. Let Melia and her team help you succeed.
Education:
Melia earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Government Pre-Law from Oral Roberts University in Tulsa, OK, in 2003, before going on to receive her Juris Doctor from the University of Tulsa College of Law in 2006. From day one, her legal journey has been shaped by purpose, community, and bold vision.
Legal Experience:
Melia began her career in public service as an Assistant State Attorney in Miami-Dade County, Florida (2006–2012), where she rose to leadership as Division Chief of Juvenile Crimes and Community Prosecutions under the Honorable Katherine Fernandez Rundle. Her work focused on restoring communities, protecting youth, and ensuring accountability with compassion.
In 2012, she transitioned into corporate law, serving in-house for global brands and building out legal frameworks in data privacy, cybersecurity, and emerging tech. Over the next decade, Melia worked closely with engineers, technologists, and marketing innovators — gaining firsthand insight into how digital products are built, sold, and protected. That same insight now powers the way she supports today’s founders and digital creators.
